Lucideon to hold ‘Meet the Materials Experts’ seminar in Cork

Lucideon, the materials development and testing company that was formerly known as Ceram, is holding a ‘Meet the Materials Experts’ seminar on 19 June 2014 in Cork, Ireland.

This content was written and submitted by the supplier. It has only been modified to comply with this publication’s space and style.

Designed to help medical device manufacturers and suppliers, and indeed anyone who works with materials, learn how to solve materials problems, the half-day event will include sessions on ceramics, metals and polymers challenges and failures as well as a detailed presentation on cleaning process performance validation.

Julius Bonini, PE, Senior Metallurgy Consultant, will lead on metallurgy challenges, including those associated with the cleaning and processing of Additive Layer Manufactured surfaces.

Dr. Xi Peng, Polymer Scientist, will cover polymer issues, including material degradation, stress cracking and additives migration, while Dr. Richard White, Head of Testing, will talk about ‘Ceramics & Bioceramics – Process and Use Failures’.  Dr. White will also focus on hydroxyapatite testing for regulatory and quality purposes, an area that Lucideon specialises in.

Surface analysis techniques and their use in assessing the level of cleanliness of cleaned components will be covered by Dr. Chris Pickles, Consultant, who will also explain Lucideon’s Cleanliness Index and its use in cleaning process performance validation.

Ursula Thompson, Technical Sales Consultant, said:

“The event is an ideal chance to meet our materials experts, all who have many years’ experience in their field and are used to solving complex material problems, using a variety of analytical techniques.

“If you have a ceramics, metal or polymer problem, come along and find out how we can help you.”

The event runs from 9am – 1.30pm.
