MOCON, Inc. (NASDAQ: MOCO), the world’s leading manufacturer of package integrity instrumentation, is expanding to provide enhanced services to U.S.-based and multinational healthcare companies.

The company is adding two U.S.-based healthcare industry professionals to provide additional support to pharmaceutical, medical device, biomedical and related companies.  The objective is to help customers improve package performance and speed-to-market while minimizing costs. MOCON will deploy its large arsenal of instrumentation and related services to help healthcare product manufacturers achieve those objectives.

“The global healthcare market is growing and manufacturers keep pushing the limits.  As a result, our customers can often find themselves developing products and evaluating packaging structures with which they have no prior experience.  With instruments and services in more than 75 countries on six continents, MOCON has extensive knowledge which can help shorten manufacturers’ learning curves,” said Ed Emerson, healthcare industry business development manager for MOCON.

Effective immediately, new healthcare account managers, Matt Dammann and Ryan Holland will be helping healthcare companies make cost-effective, performance-oriented packaging decisions to support product launches and/or redesign of existing structures.

“Both Matt and Ryan have a significant amount of hands-on experience with medical and pharmaceutical customers.   By adding them to the team, we’ve expanded our ability to guide those companies in reaching their objectives,” Emerson said.

Based on increased demand for MOCON instruments, consulting and testing services, across the globe, the company continues to make strategic commitments to grow support for healthcare related products.  This announcement follows on the heels of last year’s expanded European initiative.

In addition to selling instrumentation directly to manufacturers, MOCON offers research and development and/or quality control support capabilities via its global consulting and testing network.  Examples of consulting services include:  test method development, shelf-life modeling, sterile barrier validation (ISO 11607), package integrity verification, gas, moisture or organic vapor permeation, ethylene oxide monitoring, microbial detection, headspace gas detection and off-odor/flavor analysis.

MOCON’s dual-pronged business model offers manufacturers the flexibility to conduct testing onsite at their facility or at an outside, MOCON-certified lab, depending on their preference and testing requirements.
