Today the Weidenhammer Packaging Group (WPG), Europe's leading supplier of composite cans, composite drums and rigid plastic containers, successfully concluded negotiations with AR Packaging Group (AR), based in Lund, Sweden on the purchase of AR's subsidiaries A&R Carton Lund and Flextrus. Accordingly, at the end of this year the WPG will take over the AR's sites in Lund and Halmstad, Sweden, and in Highbridge, UK, which represent a total of ca. 400 employees.
As part of the acquisition, the WPG will receive the production rights to AR Packaging's Cekacan® cans, a packaging solution for products like powdered milk, coffee and cocoa. "This acquisition is of considerable strategic importance for our Group," explains Ralf Weidenhammer, Managing Director of the WPG. "It will allow us not only to further expand our position on the global packaging market, but at the same time to gain new customers and enter new markets."
The two parties expect to have completed the transaction by the end of the year and have mutually agreed not to disclose the agreed-upon price.
