Techmer PM, a major producer of value-added colors and additives for the plastics and fiber industries, has announced the addition of TP Composites to its engineered compounds business. TP Composites (TPC), a privately held custom formulator and engineered plastics manufacturer that was founded in 1994 and based in Aston, Pa., will be wholly owned by Techmer PM and operate under the Techmer Engineered Solutions (TES) business unit.

“TP Composites is a great fit for our engineering compounds business, which we continue to develop with our long-time partner Mitsui Plastics, Inc., and is another key step in our growth initiative for the TES business,” said John Manuck, chairman & CEO of Techmer PM. “TP Composites brings an array of complementary products and talented personnel to our existing TES group.”

TES was launched by Techmer PM in 2004 as the company expanded beyond its traditional masterbatch business into the rapidly growing and complementary engineered plastics market. Since its launch, TES has embarked on a strategic growth initiative, and the acquisition of TPC will aid in the continued expansion into the business machines, automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, consumer products, medical, and electrical and electronic industries. All TPC managers and other personnel will join TES and continue to work out of the facilities in Aston, Pa. Ron Taylor, president of TP Composites, added, “The alignment between the two companies’ core philosophies will enable TPC team members to integrate quickly and seamlessly. Being a part of TES will provide new and exciting opportunities for TPC team members as well as our customers.”

The addition of the Aston, Pa., facility to existing TES locations in Clinton, Tenn., and Rancho Dominguez, Calif., will expand the TES footprint and enable greater customer focus and quicker turnaround times.
