The new laboratory will tie together the compendial raw material testing lab and its supporting business group under one roof. The new location will increase turnaround times for high-quality raw materials testing; a standard 10-day turnaround will be offered for most compendial raw materials.
Features of the new GMP laboratory space include state-of-the-art engineering controls, updated IT infrastructure utilizing Waters Empower-2™ Chromatography Network data acquisition software, updated gas generation systems to support the dedicated Agilent 6890 gas chromatographs, HPLC systems for improved sample through-put and completely updated support systems down to the new Milli-Q water systems and Lancer Laboratory Glassware Washer. In addition, the move integrates AAIPharma Services' Physical Chemistry and Raw Materials Laboratories to provide full service Compendial Testing and API characterization in-house.
In addition to allowing the Compendial Testing Group to provide better customer service, group manager Ryan Taro states, "The new lab space also improves integration with other AAIPharma Services lines of business." For example, it supports solid dose and sterile manufacturing and packaging operations through enhanced communications and processing to prevent delays in having raw materials released for those facilities. It also dovetails with the newly created Quality Assurance Lab Service team responsible for overseeing data review.
According to Taro, "This investment is one more sign of the commitment AAIPharma Services has to its customers in providing top-notch, cGMP testing services to support pharmaceutical and biotech industries." Future improvements will include implementation of an online quotation and sample submission system that will facilitate how clients request quotes and submit samples for testing.
