Stryker Corporation Named One of FORTUNE Magazine's '100 Best Companies to Work For'

Stryker Corporation announced today that it has been named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" by FORTUNE in the magazine's 14th annual survey of top-rated workplaces in the United States.

This content was written and submitted by the supplier. It has only been modified to comply with this publication’s space and style.

This is Stryker's first time to be named to the list, and the company was ranked 68th out of 100; 9th for the employee benefit of telecommuting. The full list and related stories will appear in the February 7 issue of FORTUNE, and are available now at fortune.com/bestcompanies.

Stephen P. MacMillan, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Stryker, attributes this honor to all Stryker employees. "We believe that we have a very special spirit at Stryker, and it is great to see this spirit acknowledged publicly," Mr. MacMillan said. "Our employees' efforts every day make Stryker the organization it is."

To pick the 100 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. Three hundred eleven companies participated in this year's survey. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the results of the Institute's Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about management's credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third of the scoring is based on the company's responses to the Institute's Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, internal communications, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts. Any company that is at least seven years old with more than 1,000 U.S. employees is eligible.

"Stryker believes in a strengths-based talent philosophy that brings out the best in our employees - and enables them to give their best to our customers, their patients and the communities we serve," said Mike Rude, Vice President, Human Resources.
