Cook Pharmica announces $80 million expansion

An expansion at Cook Pharmica's Bloomington, IN, facility aims to expand the company's contract manufacturing business to include aseptically filled parenteral vials and syringes.

Called Project Eos, the expansion will support a high-speed syringe filling line and one low- to medium-speed vial filling line with lyophilization capacity. The syringe filling line will incorporate electron-beam sterilization and both lines will utilize isolators. Targeted to be on-line early next year, the facility is expected to add 200 new jobs. Cook Pharmica is the contract biopharmaceutical manufacturing division of Cook Medical.
