SPE-Inspiring Plastics Professionals is pleased to announce the launch of a new mentoring program for its members.

The program is designed to connect, inspire and develop plastics professionals globally through meaningful relationships. It will pair each participant with a qualified counterpart, to ensure successful outcomes with the program.

“Mentors can play a key role in inspiring individuals to succeed and thrive in the work world.” said SPE’s Mentoring Committee Chair Monika Verheij. “SPE is excited about the opportunity to help build a mentoring network that will enable plastics professionals to pursue fulfilling careers.”

This network will provide members a platform for knowledge transfer between generations from established industry professionals to those who are just beginning their careers in plastics looking to take the next step. Mentors and mentees will be matched according to their personal preferences so that the challenges of advancing their professional and personal goals are addressed. Members can choose to be mentor and mentee at the same time.

“I remember how hard it was for me to ask for guidance about my career after graduation.” stated SPE’s Next Generation Advisory Board Chair Erin Keaney. “I am really excited for the mentor program. It is going to break down the barrier of young professionals connecting with great people who can guide them in the industry.”

This new program is one of the many initiatives SPE is adopting to give members the tools they need to succeed. Involvement will provide additional networking opportunities and expand members’ professional learning circles and help tocultivate strong leadership.

Committee members hope to grow this program each year, pairing new mentees with experienced mentors around the world.

“Mentor-ship provides insight to young professionals and can help guide them in their new careers.” said Lynzie Nebel, SPE’s VP-Young Professionals. “SPE's new mentor program will be able to provide answers and counsel to those seeking to further themselves in the plastics industry.”
