Not your grandmother's bandage

The 3D printed device monitors a person's vital signs in real time.

This is not your ordinary bandage.

Students at National Taiwan University have taken the look of a bandage and made it into a wearable medical device that monitors a person's vital signs in real time.

But, there's another aspect that makes this even more interesting – it is 3D printed from soft, flexible material.

The website 3Dprint.com reported the device "is capable of tracking a patient’s temperature, heartbeat, and movement, and then wirelessly transmitting that information to a tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth."

According to their report, it can also retrieve sounds from internal organs by using a microphone that is similar to a stethoscope.
