Quick Hits: Cannabis May Prevent and Treat COVID-19

Researchers in Canada believe strong strains of marijuana could help prevent infection.

I read recently that cannabis and alcohol use during quarantine were through the roof. Well according to a recent New York Post article, the former may be helping people stay healthy. A team of scientists in Canada conducted a study that suggests strong strains of cannabis could help prevent and treat coronavirus infections. The study, conducted in April at the University of Lethbridge, showed that plants high in CBD could reduce the virus’ entry points by up to 70%.

The team says more research is necessary, but the initial study gives hope that cannabis could be used for preventative strategies. The study can be seen here.
