Industry Fallout from Unique Device Identifier Mandates

David McGurk, Director of Sales, USA, at Plexpack, shares a front-line perspective on key healthcare packaging market drivers, such as Unique Device Identifiers, and the equipment options available for filling and sealing validatable bags.

A new book: The Handbook of Logistics and Distribution Management: Understanding the Supply Chain explains the functions and elements related to logistics, supply chain and distribution management. This revised 6th edition includes the latest advances in logistics and covers new topics being studied on academic and professional courses.

“The scope of logistics continues to grow rapidly,” sayss Director of Dialog Consultants and co-author Alan Rushton. To accommodate and adapt to this growth, the book retains its original aim: “to provide a text with both simplicity of style and relevance of context.”

With the first edition published in 1989, the Handbook’s 30-year pedigree shows the relevance of the topic and the need for a new edition. The first of its kind in the field, especially in Europe, content for the first edition was initially discussed around 1987, and while celebrating its 30th anniversary of conception, the book proves to be a necessary resource for logistics managers, students and academics.

Dorothea Carvalho, Director of Professional Development at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), praised the book, calling it “one of the most readable books available for logistics and supply chain students and professionals around the world.”

Author Rushton is a Director of Dialog Consultants, and was formerly the Director of Graduate Programmes at the Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Cranfield University. He is also a Chartered Fellow of CILT (UK).

Phil Croucher is an independent supply chain consultant and lecturer, has an MSc in Logistics and Distribution Management from Cranfield University and is a Chartered Fellow of CILT (UK).

Dr Peter Baker is an independent consultant and lecturer, a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield University and a Chartered Fellow of CILT (UK).
