BASF Halts Ibuprofen Production in Texas

A technical problem at their plant in Bishop, Texas has forced BASF to shut down production of ibuprofen.

A recent Reuters article noted BASF’s halting of ibuprofen production at their plant in Bishop, TX. A spokesperson for the company vaguely mentioned a “technical problem” in a statement on June 27th. This news comes almost exactly a year after the company announced a significant investment in their ibuprofen production capabilities in Ludwigshafen, Germany and Bishop, Texas.

The spokesperson didn’t provide any details as to the nature of the technical issue that caused the shutdown, but did not that more detailed analysis should be available in July. BASF, which is the leading Western ibuprofen APR supplier, shut down thee Texas plant on June 3rd.
