A recent MedWatch release says Houston-based Advanced Pharma is issuing a nationwide voluntary recall of all unexpired sterile injectable products labeled “latex free.” Avella and Advanced Pharma are unable to confirm whether or not the products actually contain latex. The products, produced between September 1, 2016 and February 16, 2017, weren’t distributed to patients or consumers, but rather hospitals and institutions.

The company is notifying customers of the recall via phone and mail. They advise anyone in possession of the affected products to immediately discontinue use and return any unused portions to Avella Specialty Pharmacy. Failure to do so could result in adverse events ranging from local site reactions including swelling and inflammation to life-threatening allergic reactions.
