Couple sold unapproved medical devices to cancer, AIDS patients

One of them also admitted to intending to defraud and mislead the FDA.

A California couple admitted to selling unapproved medical devices over the internet that claimed they could treat AIDS and cancer, according to The Associated Press.

The device was known as the "Energy Wave," and sold for between $1,200 to $1,500 each, the article reported.

It was never approved by the FDA.

David Perez pled guilty in federal court to intending to defraud and mislead the FDA, while his wife Sandra Perez admitted to assisting him in the scheme, according to the news outlet.
