Spotted at PACK EXPO East: Liquid Unit Dose Cup Packaging

FD-PHARMA – Series II fills, prints, seals and cuts two cups at a time. The system allows small- to medium-volume production for small pharma manufacturers, hospital pharmacies and CDMOs with easy changeover.

Medical Packaging Inc. offers a dual-head, liquid unit dosing cup packaging machine. The FD-PHARMA – Series II system prints, seals and cuts two cups at a time, and fills up to 34 cups/min, and was designed for small pharma manufacturers, hospital pharmacies and CDMOs, from clinical trials and small volume to full production.

The stainless-steel syringes work with a variety of liquids, inclosing high viscosity drugs, and all for easy changeover. With Pak-EDGE UD, the system can accommodate barcoding and serialization. Cup sizes vary from 15 mL to 35 mL. Because the system does not use pre-printed label stock, changes can be accommodated for versatility.

The positive displacement pumping system features two programmable linear drive stepper-controlled stations each with 50 mL stainless steel syringes that are autoclavable. Thepumping draw rates, dispense rates and dwell are programmable through the touchscreen interface. Pumps can be individually calibrated, and operate with two intake and two output pinch valves designed for 50 Dur silicone tubing, and check valves can be used in place of pinch valves.

The system also features automatic cup feeding and compact footprint (37 in L x 14 in W x 18 in H).
