Marchesini Group’s new labeller BL A420 CW for track and trace requirements is developed by Neri spa, a branch of Marchesini Group that specializes in producing folding carton labeling and tracking machines.
The model on at PACK EXPO International 2016 offers versatility and reliability. An integrated checkweigher, or load cell, in its stepper conveyance system is capable of controlling the weight of each carton. This system is more compact than the approach where the weighing unit is coupled in-line, or where the weighing units have their own conveyance system and are independent from that of the labeling machine.
By integrating the load cell into the toothed belt system of the BL A420 CW, the unit is able to verify the position of the cartons at all times: if the weight is correct, the product undergoes the subsequent processes (serialization, marking and sealing), then it is sent to the next machine. But if the weight is not correct, the subsequent processes are skipped and the carton is rejected, according to the “Fail Safe” operating logic.
The flexibility of the BL A420 CW means that all types of printing and vision systems available can be installed on it, which can be customized according to all current standards worldwide. This special feature makes the BL A420CW suitable for tracking, serializing and labeling cartons, giving a unique identity to all the pharmaceutical products packaged.

At PACK EXPO, the BL A420 CWwill be backed by cartoner model MA 80, known for its flexibility, ergonomics and speed. The original MA 80 was launched in 2004, then redesigned in 2010 to enhance its existing features, as well as to add improvements. The new MA 80 can process up to 120 cartons/min, while the previous version ran 80/min. The range of format dimensions has increased on the new MA 80, adding 10mm to both its A and B dimensions. Larger doors were added to maximize accessibility and make the product and carton bucket chains easier to clean. Today, the MA 80 is used to package blisters, sachets, disposable syringes, perfume bottles, as well as various pharmaceuticals and cosmetics products across all five continents.
