SHL (Scandinavian Health Ltd.) Medical is a privately owned designer, developer and manufacturer of advanced drug delivery systems such as auto injectors and pen injectors.

Its innovative auto injectors are used by leading companies in the biopharmaceutical industry. The designs of its various systems are focused on user friendliness and intuitive operation in order to make self-medication easier for patients.

SHL found a partner in Schreiner MediPharm that exactly adapts marking solutions for these devices to highly specific requirements. Germany-based Schreiner MediPharm has developed specialty labels for demo devices of various SHL Medical auto injector models in which safety and patient ease of use are paramount.

The label solutions underscore the exacting demands placed on the injection systems in terms of quality and patient orientation. One feature designed to assist users is a Near Field Communication (NFC) chip that’s integrated in the Amber® auto injector model.

The label performs important additional functions tailored to meet the requirements of both manufacturers and users. To improve grip, for example, an anti-slip varnish is used to prevent slipping during injection. An integrated hologram helps the user identify the product as an original, and a printed QR code provides a link, via smartphone, to a website with additional product information.

SHL Medical’s Amber® auto injector model also is equipped with a special new feature: A label-integrated Near Field Communication (NFC) chip allowing users to interactively access important information and services by smartphone.

The label for its Molly® device includes a temperature indicator that produces a reversible color shift when a defined ambient temperature has been reached.

Beyond these helpful functions, the specialty labels allow for customized branding to emphasize the manufacturer’s brand presentation.
