A Morning Call article dated July 8th noted the expansion of Sharp Packaging Solutions, based in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. The development is fueled by an increased industry demand for complex contract packaging. “With our new facility, we have the dedicated space to meet the most demanding requirements,” said Doug Hill, senior vice president and general manager of the facility.

Sharp opened this facility in 2004, when they took over an old Keebler Co. regional warehouse and created 300 local jobs. They make bottles, pouches and blister packs for individually packaged pills— an industry that blossomed after the 1982 Tylenol tampering case that left seven consumers dead. According to Hill, the company worked “very closely” with the FDA on the agency’s evaluation of its new facilities.
