Human, Animal Compounding Products Recalled Over Sterility Assurance

The products originated from Abbott's Compounding Pharmacy in California.

Injectable medications, sterile solutions, eye drops and eye ointments for human and veterinary use originating from Abbott's Compounding facility have been recalled over concerns about their lack of sterility assurance, according to the FDA.

The recall was issued after a series of on-site inspections by the FDA.

All recalled products were distributed to patients, physician offices, clinics and veterinarians within California.

To date, Abbott's Compounding Pharmacy has not received any reports of any adverse effects or injuries, and the recalled products were distributed exclusively within the state of California directly from its Berkeley, Calif. pharmacy location.
