Overdose Potential Prompts Kids' Medicine Recall

Faulty dosing cups included in the packaging could cause risks.

A dosing cup with incorrect markings, included in the medicine's packaging, is causing the voluntary recall of two types of children's cough syrup.

The Perrigo Company is recalling two batches of their children’s guaifenesin grape liquid and three batches of their children's guaifenesin DM cherry liquid, sold in 4 ounce bottles, because of overdosing concerns, according to the company.

"The recall by our dosing cup supplier is being initiated because of the potential that some packages contain an oral dosing cup with incorrect dose markings," the company said in their press release.

A spokeswoman for the company told ABC News they did not manufacture the dosing cups.
