A recent AS article discussed a new drug that claims to eliminate COVID-19 from a patient within just three days. The orally ingested antiviral drug is manufactured by Merck, and goes by the name molnupiravir. According to the WHO, the drug is intended for “patients with non-severe COVID-19 who are at maximum risk of hospitalization” and should not be taken by children or pregnant women.
It’s typically prescribed for people who aren’t vaccinated, the elderly, immunocompromised, or people with chronic diseases. Molnupiravir is taken in four doses twice a day for five days beginning with the onset of symptoms. An MSD study concluded that after five days, subjects treated with the drug were drug free, while 2.2% of the other group still detected the virus.
