FDA Issues Hand Sanitizer Warning

Hand sanitizer splashing into kids’ eyes is a “growing safety issue,” according to the agency.

According to a recent Fox 8 article, the FDA has issued a warning to users of alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Although the Drug Facts label states that the product shouldn’t be used near the eyes, the U.S. Poison Control Center received more than 3,600 reports of eye irritation and damage in a three year period. The majority of instances have involved children under the age of 5 at home.
