Current treatments include a low-carb, low-sugar diet paired with daily insulin injections or pumps. Though there is no cure, scientists are working to develop a vaccine that could come in a number of forms: antigen-specific vaccine, single peptide vaccine, altered peptide ligand vaccine, adjuvant stimulated diabetes vaccine, TB vaccine, repurpose.
