This Tiny Injectable Robot Attacks Tumors

The microscopic robots are loaded with cancer-killing chemicals, injected, and driven to tumors.

According to a recent LA Times article, a California-based startup has created a remote-controlled medical microrobot. The company is called Bionaut Labs, and they’re using a $20 million investment and precision robotic manufacturing to develop a device that can be injected into the spike or skull to attack malignant tumors.

Once inside the body, the robot is magnetically steered to a target where it releases a precise dose of drugs. The targeted delivery means more precise treatment while minimizing collateral damage to the body, which is a major issue with current cancer treatments such as chemotherapy. Bionaut aims to move to clinical trials by 2023.
