A recent Medgadget article discussed a new development in the artificial eye department. Four institutions have come together to develop an artificial iris that’s integrated into a contact lens. The device aims to correct vision disorders related to iris irregularities with an artificial one that consists of an LCD display composed of concentric circles. The circles can change opacity depending on the desired pupil size to help the eye focus. The prototype contains a tiny battery that allows the unit to work for a full day.
