A recent CNN article discussed the latest products added to the FDA’s list of products that tested positive for methanol, which can be toxic. The discovery comes just two weeks after the agency named nine hand sanitizers, manufactured in Mexico by Eskbiochem SA, that tested positive for the toxic chemical. Exposure to high amounts of methanol, whether absorbed through the skin or ingested, can cause nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system or even death.
