A recent CNN article discussed the recall of a popular over-the-counter infant ibuprofen that’s sold at major retailers like CVS and Walmart. The recall affected three lots of Concentrated Oral Suspension that may contain levels of ibuprofen that are too high to be considered safe for infants.
Although no adverse events have been linked to the recall, they could include nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, diarrhea, gastrointestinal pain, ringing in the ears and headache. Unfortunately, very few of those symptoms are obvious with an infant. Tris Pharma, the manufacturer of the drug, says the affected lots should not be used and should be returned or thrown away.
