December 1st marked World AIDS day, the one day a year we celebrate and reflect on the global fight against HIV/AIDS. This year, the FDA announced a pilot program in partnership with the World Health Organization designed to expedite the review of HIV drug applications submitted to WHO’s Prequalification of Medicines Programme.
The program should eliminate redundancies between the FDA and WHO and help regulatory authorities in developing countries with limited resources make quicker decisions on life-saving HIV drugs.
