A recent in-Pharma Technologist article noted that German-based Bosch Group is shopping around its pharmaceutical and food packaging technology units. The portfolio includes single units, complete lines and integrated systems for manufacturing and processing both liquid and solid drugs. It also contains software solutions for track and trace, process technology, primary packaging, and the ability to pack in several styles including blisters, bottles, capsules, and stick packs.

A spokesperson from Bosch noted small and medium-sized enterprises are at a structural advantage in the space, and the company cannot compete. “Bosch is certain that its packaging technology operations need to be put on a different footing that will allow them to react more flexibly to the specific requirements of packaging,” the spokesperson said. The company plans to find a strategic buyer with a “clear concept for taking the business forward.”
