Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society’s (RAPS) Zachary Brousseau, Senior Manager, Communications, and Matthew A. Clark, VP, Brand Management, say that RAPS includes approximately 12,000 members, from more than 50 countries.

FDA and European regulations are especially significant for members, who often have backgrounds in science or engineering.

Brousseau and Clark cite FDA's proposed changes to generic drug labeling rules as an example of an issue affecting the packaging industry that also is being watched closely by regulatory professionals. To address this, and other important regulatory topics, RAPS conducts training, webinars, and other educational events to help facilitate discussion.

RAPS touts its Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) and how it benefits professionals who have achieved it as a key way to advancing the regulatory profession globally. Brousseau estimates that some 7,000 people have received the important RAC, in the U.S., Canada, China, India, and various EU countries.

RAPS is a global organization of and for those involved with the regulation of healthcare and related products, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biologics, and nutritional products. RAPS helped establish the regulatory profession and continues to actively support the professional and lead the profession as a neutral, non-lobbying nonprofit organization. RAPS offers education and training, professional standards, publications, research, knowledge sharing, networking, career development opportunities, and other valuable resources, including RAC, the post-academic professional credential to recognize regulatory excellence.
