Selig Group, a distributor in container sealing and venting technology, announces the launch of a PP backed DELTASEAL liner. The two-piece liner can be used to seal dry and oily food containers, and thanks to the replacement of the original board layer with PP foam, now promotes the easy recycling of PP caps in suitable recycling streams.

Efficient waste collection schemes, closed-loop recycling and access to recycled content are all making producers look at every stage of their packaging process. As a result, the PP backed DELTASEAL liner was developed to meet customer demand for more sustainable packaging solutions. The foam product that replaces the board is denser than traditional foam and has been created in a thickness of 0.9mm to ensure rigidity is maintained throughout the lifespan of the product’s use. Testing has shown it to be robust and fit-for-purpose, whilst delivering appropriate peelable bond strength.

The DELTASEAL liner consists of aluminum foil coated with a heat seal layer, that is temporarily polymer bonded to the PP reseal backing material. The temporary polymer lamination eliminates the use of wax, creating a stable liner over a wider temperature range, and provides a foil finish on top of the container. In addition, by using different coating technologies, Selig’s DELTASEAL liner can be attached to glass, PP or PET containers to create a 100% hermetic, tamper evident seal.

Peter Tindale, European Sales Director at Selig Group said: “Liners have a part to play in achieving a clean recycling stream and more and more producers are looking for solutions that support their sustainable packaging strategies. By offering the PP backed  DELTASEAL liner, we are helping our customers to resolve their cap and liner recycling issues.”
