Bemis to evaluate MSM Poly LLC Anobex™ AMAC

Bemis to evaluate MSM Poly LLC Anobex™ AMAC as an alternative to INEOS Barex® for incorporation into high barrier packaging portfolio.

Bemis Healthcare Packaging announces that it has an aggressive program to evaluate MSM Poly LLC Anobex™ brand acrylonitrile methyl acrylate copolymer (AMAC) as an additional packaging sealant for pharmaceutical and challenging ‘hard-to-hold’ applications. We will first confirm that Anobex™ is functionally equivalent to INEOS Barex® brand AMAC and that Anobex™ is supported by a robust supply chain. Upon satisfaction of this investigation, Bemis Healthcare Packaging will incorporate Anobex™ into its already strong suite of packaging options including CXB® and PET high barrier sealants. With Anobex™ AMAC as a sealant in our high barrier laminates, we will target existing Barex® applications that have not yet found a suitable alternative, as well as new applications which emerge that can benefit from the strong chemical resistance this polymer has demonstrated for many years.

Bemis Healthcare Packaging brought together our leading scientists in chemical, material and package engineering to design a family of sealant technologies, engineered to meet the demanding requirements for pharmaceutical packaging. Our scientists have taken a theoretical, analytical and practical application approach to understanding the solubility and diffusion characteristics of drugs. Through advanced modeling techniques, we have developed an understanding of how drugs interact with a sealant layer of a film, and we can confidently recommend a one-to-one solution for your specific pharmaceutical application.

The company's technology family covers the full range of packaging options, including paper, foil, child resistant, high chemical resistant and low drug uptake laminations. A variety of sealant options are already available, including our most recent market introduction, CXB™, which has shown to be a great alternative for a multitude of challenging drug protection applications, especially nicotine.

A global leader in the healthcare packaging markets, Bemis Healthcare Packaging specializes in the manufacture of co-extruded films, laminated films, flexible forming films, foil barrier laminations, pouches, bags, thermoformed trays, lids, labels, heat seal coated DuPont™ Tyvek® and heat seal coated medical grades of paper. Facilities are located in Oshkosh and New London, WI; Mankato, MN; San Juan, PR; Londonderry, Northern Ireland; Selangor, Malaysia; and Suzhou, China.
