The 2016 ISA Food and Pharmaceutical Industries (FPID) Symposium has issued a Call for Abstracts, inviting innovators, thought leaders and other professionals involved in automating food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing to submit abstracts for presentation consideration at the conference.

To be held 14-15 March in beautiful Cork, Ireland, the 2016 meeting will be the first ISA FPID symposium situated outside of North America. The unique gathering will explore how automation can help address critical challenges—relating to regulatory requirements, manufacturing costs, security threats and other concerns—within the food and pharmaceutical sectors. Special attention will examine the role of automation technology and innovation in meeting longer-term global dynamics and demands.

Well-renowned speakers and presenters will illuminate the latest developments, trends and projections, and provide case studies demonstrating real-world successes. New strategies, products and techniques in control, optimization, measurement and serialization will be introduced.

Government officials have been invited to deliver updates and provide clarity on regulatory requirements. A range of panel discussions and sessions will deliver the varied perspectives of experts, suppliers and end users. The year 2016 is a special year in Irish history as it marks the centenary of the rebellion which led to Ireland’s self-government some six years later. Many events are planned throughout the country. In addition, the FPID Symposium will be conducted only days before the Irish national holiday of St Patrick's Day.

Prospective presenters are invited to submit original contributions on all aspects of automation including—but not limited to—the following topics. Emphasis should be on practical contributions rather than theoretical presentations.

  • Cybersecurity
  • Sustainable processing
  • Data integrity
  • Alarm management
  • Industrial Internet of Things
  • Usage of cloud for automation
  • Instrumentation: calibration, wireless
  • Batch management & MES
