Sourced from Vandanamu Ethical Cottons, which works in partnership with fair trade producers and community groups in southern India, the bags were made by a sewing unit in Southern India set up for women survivors of the Boxing Day Tsunami that provides sustainable livelihoods under fair conditions.
Malcolm Farnan, Sales and Marketing Director from Clondalkin Group, said: "Everyone remembers the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004 not only because of when it happened, but due to the scale and indiscriminant devastation it caused to the entire region. This year marks the 10th anniversary and so it seemed fitting to support this particular project and assist them in gaining greater recognition. Exhibiting at an event such as LuxePack is always a significant publicity medium for us as a business, however we felt it was also an ideal opportunity to support such an excellent cause run by a fantastic group of women in Tamil Nadu.”
"The cotton bags are of a very high quality and we hope both ourselves and other companies involved in the industry, will work with the women of this small sewing unit in Tamil Nadu Southern India in the future."
Vandanamu Ethical Cottons' bespoke printed products are made from 100% organic cotton which has a Global Organic Textile Standards certification.
