Pelican's BioPharma Division set to launch a line of temperature-controlled cases

Delivering in mission-critical situations isn't a slogan, it is a principle at the core of Pelican Products, Inc., the leader in the design and manufacture of both high-performance protective case solutions and advanced portable lighting systems.

It is this core principle that guided the creation of the new Pelican BioPharma™ Division that will usher in the next generation of cold chain products, logistics and service. In August 2012, Pelican BioPharma will launch a line of virtually indestructible temperature controlled cases for the pharmaceutical and biologics industry, offering a global alternative to the industry.

"The surprisingly sub-standard packaging solutions available to customers relying on the global cold chain are unacceptable," said Lyndon Faulkner, President and CEO. Faulkner went on to say he was shocked to learn of the high number of vaccines rendered less effective due to being damaged in shipment. "We brought the full weight of Pelican science and engineering to create these new transport cases so that temperature sensitive materials, such as critical vaccines and other pharmaceutical materials will safely and sustainably be accessible around the world."

Pelican BioPharma™ cases will incorporate three industry-leading features: reusability, temperature control and security. With the ability to make multiple trips as opposed to the extremely low number of trips of the current cardboard box solution, Pelican offers a far-superior option in transport coupled with very low cost per shipment and sustainment. While in transit, sensitive vaccines and other crucial pharmaceutical materials will be safeguarded from the climatechanges of the open road. Pelican BioPharma cases are engineered to deliver more than 140 hours of temperature control versus some conventional shipment options that offer as low as 48 hours. Each case will also be secure and lockable. Supported by global logistics partners, the cases will be available for purchase or through "per use" rental and long term leasing models.

Two cases will lead the launch of a full line of Pelican BioPharma solutions in development beginning in August 2012.
• BP 2620 Medium Case featuring 140+ hours between 2.0 to 8.0C
• BP 3075 Large Case featuring 140+ hours between 2.0 to 8.0C

This exciting division is being led by cold chain industry veteran Jeff Wodrich who brings more than 17 years of product development, business development, marketing, and project management expertise to his position. He is supported by a newly established team of international sales experts and qualified technical engineers. Prior to joining Pelican, Wodrich helped to drive millions of dollars in revenue to leading manufacturing and engineering companies in the cold chain industry.

"The Pelican BioPharma solution adds a unique dynamic to the world's most recognized technical packaging company," said Wodrich, Director, Business Development. "Pelican understands that in some situations failure is not an option. Our deep engineering resources, global manufacturing and distribution facilities will assure that our new division honors this commitment to unfailing excellencewhen it matters most."
