Strong industry support for Medical Fair Asia 2012

The 9th edition of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA, International Exhibition on Hospital, Diagnostic, Pharmaceutical, Medical & Rehabilitation Equipment & Supplies, will have strong support from prominent Asian industry association.

They include the Ministry of Health (Singapore), the Asian Hospital Federation, the Association of Diagnostics Manufacturers of India, the Association of Medical Device Industry (Singapore) and the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia as well as the Indonesian Hospital Association (PERSI), the Singapore Medical Association and the Federation of Medical Societies of Hong Kong. MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2012 will take place from September 12 - 14, 2012 at Suntec Singapore with an expected 500 exhibitors and 10,000 trade visitors from around the world.

Industry support is crucial in the positive medical and health care market in Asia. Due to the growing ageing population, demand for better and state-of-the-art healthcare products is increasing steadily. “Asia is the growth area among all the continents in the world and is expected to grow faster than other continents at least in the next decade or so. With a large population and growing disposable income, it is obvious that the Asian medical healthcare sectors will at least triple in the next decade. In this connection, MEDICAL FAIR ASIA plays a vital role in providing effective products and technologies for patients and caregivers. The trade fair assists our members by bringing them closer to their customers and markets which in turn helps them to commercialize their product and technologies which is one of the missions of the association,” stated D.G. Tripathi, President of the Association of Diagnostics Manufacturers of India.

According to Henry K H Tan, President of the Association of Medical Devices Industry (Singapore), MEDICAL FAIR ASIA allows its members and SMEs to utilize the opportunities of the medical and healthcare business in this region and to cultivate growth opportunities with suppliers in the marketplace: “The exhibition showcases advanced medical products and innovations of the future to importing companies and healthcare providers in the area, thus contributing to a conducive marketplace.”

Dr. Yin-Kwok Ng, Secretary of the Federation of Medical Societies of Hong Kong, added: “MEDICAL FAIR ASIA provides an international platform for the medical and healthcare industry. The boundless opportunities, economically and academically, generated from this event make this industry flourish and vibrant.”

Dr. Sutoto, Mkes, Director of Indonesian Hospital Association (PERSI), is convinced that as healthcare becomes a growing priority in the region, both public and private providers must provide the best delivery methods in order to meet the demands of the population:” Growing affluence brings further challenges in form of a growing elderly population, chronic diseases and higher expectations for care standards. Health spending in developing economies is expected to double over the next decade, outperforming GDP growth. The economic uncertainly in the West has only increased the need to find ways to create new investments and deliver health services more efficiently. PERSI is delighted to support MEDICAL FAIR ASIA again as this is exactly the platform that is needed in Asia to educate the industry professionals about impending medical and health trends.”

Dato' Dr. Jacob Thomas, President of the Asian Hospital Federation and Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia, agreed: “Private hospitals across Malaysian and the Asian region are constantly sourcing for the latest medical technology and equipment in order to provide the best patient care. MEDICAL FAIR ASIA provides an excellent platform for these private hospitals in Asia not just to acquire products but also to network and exchange expertise.”
