Presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA), the Tekne Awards honor companies and individuals who have played a significant role in developing new technologies that positively impact the lives and futures of people living around the world.
Minntech received the award for its latest advancement in innovation and product sterilization technology: REVOX® Contract Sterilization Services.
Developed by Cantel Infection Prevention and Control Chemistries (IPCC), a new business unit formed in 2010, the REVOX service is the only rapid turnaround, true room-temperature vapor sterilization system (18 - 30 degrees C) offering for the medical, pharmaceutical and consumer products industries. The technology allows heat-sensitive devices to be sterilized without compromising materials compatibility, product quality or integrity, and also significantly reduces the preparation time of the sterilization process that is associated with other methods.
"Receiving the Tekne Award is a special honor we hold in high regard," said Roy Malkin, President and CEO, Minntech Corporation. "This recognition clearly demonstrates our innovation success in infection prevention and control."
Playing a significant role in bringing new technology to life, the 2011 Tekne Award recipients represent large global companies, as well as small entrepreneurial ventures, that have helped reinforce Minnesota's place as one of the most competitive and technologically advanced regions in the world. Judges selected one recipient out of the three finalists in each of the 14 Tekne Award categories, recognizing the best and brightest in development, education, commercialization and management of technology. A full list of award recipients is available online.
