Attendees will see live demonstrations of the top-of-the-range VEGAplus and VEGAplus BOOKLET label finishing lines, the SATURN and JUPITER slitter-rewinding-inspection machines, as well as the revolutionary PHARMACHECK system. The event will be staged on March 9, 10, 11 at the company's new headquarters in Faenza, in the Ravenna district.

PRATI's move to its new premises follows a strong period of growth, which saw the company double its year-on-year turnover in 2010. At 3,300sqm, the Faenza site is more than four times larger than PRATI's previous premises. Approximately 1,500sqm is dedicated to production, while the Open House event will be staged in the company's impressive 650sqm showroom.

PRATI is a leading company in the label industry, providing machines for post-press finishing of self-adhesive labels. The company serves an extensive customer base of label printers that undertake a variety of operations, such as rewinding, inspection, labels and plastic film slitting or die-cutting, and overprinting in 1-2 colours.

Chiara Prati, Sales Director at PRATI, comments: “The PRATI Open House is an excellent opportunity for label printers to learn how they can improve their print environments and work more profitably. We'll be demonstrating some of our leading systems so attendees can get a better understanding of the impact they could have on their own set-ups.

“The Open House is also a major milestone in PRATI's expansion strategy. The event marks the official opening of our larger headquarters and production facilities, which will help us build on our success and spur further growth.”

PRATI solutions on show at the Open House

VEGAplus 450 - this converting line features can be equipped with multiple die-cutting units, 1 to 2 flexo or inkjet units for printing or varnishing, and can be integrated with inspection control. In addition to producing blank labels, VEGAplus delivers automatic registered die-cutting of pre-printed labels. Recent models offer advanced automation and the ability to upload jobs, remote connection to a front-end and a new visual communication system.

At the Open House the VEGAplus 450 will be configured with rotary die-cutting station - using magnetic die technology from Kocher+Beck - for blank or printed labels, an inspecting station to control missing labels with a BST camera, and a totally glueless turret rewinder.

VEGAplus BOOKLET - the most productive offline booklet maker. Applies under register a booklet label on the base label. The booklet labels are laminated using a rotary lamination unit, and then die-cut in register and rewound. The VEGAplus BOOKLET can produce five kinds of labels: standard and coupon, as well as flat, curved, and thick booklet. Booklet labels can be applied to flat and round surfaces - regardless of the diameter - without wrinkling.

At the Open House the VEGAplus BOOKLET will include the OS700 booklet feeder from Longford International, and will demonstrate highly efficient offline production of booklet and coupon labels.

PHARMACHECK - the latest solution for 'safe labels', this revolutionary system is equipped with the ultimate patented PRATI and NIKKA technology. It enables 100% labels inspection, OCR, edge guide inspection and final label presence check. PHARMACHECK is an unsurpassed solution for printers specializing in pharmaceutical and highly sensitive labels, allowing them to achieve total security in the finishing process. The system is GMP certified.

Meanwhile PRATI will demonstrate the SATURN 330 for the finishing of printed labels and production of blank labels. It will be equipped with a servo rotary die-cutting unit and a completely new inspection system from NIKKA, which the company won't be officially unveiling until LabelExpo.

Label production demonstrations will be run in co-operation with Fornietic, which will supply self-adhesive paper and film from Herma and tooling from K&B.

New premises mean more efficient, greener production and lowers costs

Print service providers are set to benefit from PRATI's switch to the Faenza site. The company's new headquarters and factory will enable it to increase output more cost effectively, and subsequently ensure unit costs are even more competitive.

The new site will also enhance PRATI's green credentials. The company is using eco-friendly label materials and office furniture. In addition, electricity for the offices is supplied by solar panels, while the electricity for production is generated by a geothermic system.

“We've significantly increased our activities in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas, so we needed production facilities that could service burgeoning demand,” explains Chiara Prati. “2010 was a great success for PRATI. With larger premises and an ever-growing presence, we are optimistic that our solid growth will continue. An increasing number of first-class customers are showing interest in PRATI machinery and choosing PRATI as their business partner.”
