Tyson Foods Announces Closure of Georgia Beef Facility

The closure comes after the company terminated over 5,000 employees in Jan. This plant shutdown will result in layoffs for 168 employees.

Multinational meat giant, Tyson Foods, announced a shut down of a processed food plant in Rome, Ga. The closure will result in layoffs for 168 employees, CBS News Atlanta says. The plant will officially cease operations on May 31. 

In a release shared to CBS News Atlanta, a spokesperson for the company called the closure a "difficult decision."
