The overprescription of antibiotics has forced bacteria to evolve over time, and they continue to get stronger and harder to kill. A recent ASIA TIMES article discussed the development of a new class of drugs capable of killing these multi-drug resistant superbugs such as Staphylococcus aureus or MRSA. The team behind the breakthrough drugs consists of bacteriologists at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. They claim their new drug candidates inhibit bacterial growth safely and effectively.
