Chain Drug Stores Account for 42.6 Percent of Sales for Pharma Distributors

The HDA Research Foundation’s new Factbook offers data and insight on healthcare supply chain trends. Additionally, over 70% of distributors used automated picking methods.

Chain drug stores remained the largest customer segment for distributors in 2017, representing 42.6% of all sales—a 10.2% increase from the previous year according to recent findings from the HDA Research Foundation. The total number of sales that went through primary pharmaceutical distributors in 2017 is estimated at 92% (or $461 billion).
