Colorite, a Tekni-Plex business unit, produces thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds suitable for a variety of uses in medical devices, packaging and other regulated markets.
Cellene compounds are formulated to be silicone, latex, phthalate, halogen and PVC-free using FDA-compliant raw materials to meet USP Class VI and ISO 10993 standards.
The company says that although PVC compounds still garner the majority of market share, TPE alternatives are for those desiring non-phthalate containing materials.
Colorite will discuss medical device commercialization trends for its Cellene® line of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds at MD&M West, February 6-8, Anaheim Convention Center, booth 1739.
The company says it has seen the development pipeline increase three-fold since its North American launch approximately a year ago, with the material gaining traction globally in a number of applications—such as drip chambers, IV and peristaltic pump tubing — looking for alternatives to PVC and silicone.
