Does Apple have a FDA-approved medical device in the works?

CEO Tim Cook hints something could be coming soon

The internet is buzzing about what Apple CEO Tim Cook has up his sleeve, after The Telegraph quoted him talking about the FDA, and not referring to the Apple Watch.

“We don’t want to put the watch through the Food and Drug Administration process," he was quoted as saying by the news outlet. "I wouldn’t mind putting something adjacent to the watch through it, but not the watch, because it would hold us back from innovating too much, the cycles are too long. But you can begin to envision other things that might be adjacent to it -- maybe an app, maybe something else.”

Some internet outlets are speculating that what Cook could be eluding to is a FDA-approved app that could record vital health statistics like blood pressure. Such an app would require approval from the FDA.
