FDA increases fees for medical device users

The move comes after the agency lowered prices in 2015.

Medical device user fees are being increased by the FDA for fiscal year 2016, according to Medical Device Online.

This comes after the agency lowered prices in 2015.

"The FDA is expected to use the additional revenue from user fees to conduct more efficient, timely, and transparent reviews," the news site reported. "The agency adjusts the rates annually, taking into consideration factors like inflation, staffing costs, and regulatory workload."

The rates go into effect Oct. 1 and remain in place until Sept. 30, 2016.
