Fette Compacting America offers the FE75 Tablet Press, a double-sided rotary press that can be equipped with up to 115 punch stations to produce more than 1.6 million tablets/hr. Most applicable for the premium production of large batches, the FE75’s four compression rollers feature a special control system for direct compression, enabling the machine to operate with two intermediate pressures.

The FE75 Tablet Press shares several technologies with the other two machines in the FE Series: the FE35 and FE55. Common features include a new, patent-pending conical filling unit; accurate manually adjustable filling table; innovative compression rollers; trouble-free tablet discharge through the column; a revamped operating terminal; and the connection of process equipment through a standardized plug-and-play interface. While the FE35 single-sided rotary press is optimized for quick changeovers and the FE55 offers maximum flexibility in diverse production scenarios, the FE75 has been specifically tailored to high-volume output for large batch production.

With a footprint of only 2 m², the FE75 also sets new standards in terms of its size and space requirements—an important distinction given the high value placed on cleanroom floor space. According to the vendor, the FE75 is the only double-sided rotary press of its size that enables users to press single- and double-layer tablets as well as powder.

The FE75 Tablet Press also features a variety of upgrades; for example, new pneumatically controlled tablet scrapers guarantee a constant surface pressure and minimize product loss. New conical filling units allow for the easier, safer processing of complex product mixtures, and tablet contamination is significantly hindered by a groundbreaking lubrication system that separates the lubrication of punch head and punch shaft in combination with a closed cam track system.

Due to the design of the FE75 chassis, optimum vibration dampening is provided by a two-part frame structure—one that, like its FE Series siblings, is composed of FDA-certified, high-performance plastic—and a pneumatic suspension system.

As with the remaining two presses in the FE Series, the FE75 embodies Fette Compacting’s Tri.Easy design concept, which is based on the notion that tablet press technology’s efficiency runs in parallel to its ease of use during production, changeover, and maintenance. The Tri.Easy design focuses on the user and ensures trouble-free production irrespective of an operator’s experience and qualifications.

For example, Fette Compacting has implemented a new approach to turret changing. Using a patent-pending process, the turret is raised by a lifting mechanism employing the adjustment drive of the compression rollers and then moved out of the machine with the aid of a CFRP carrier support. All steps involved in turret changeover have been automated or designed for tool-less execution. In addition, all machine supply lines are connected by multifunctional plugs, and the machine’s design delivers accessibility to all components.

Another highlight of the FE75 is its new extraction unit, which features a completely tubeless design. The resulting fixed positioning makes it practically impossible to install the unit incorrectly. For users the advantage is faster and easier fitting and changeover during cleaning.
