Capsule filling machines

Bosch Packaging Technology capsule filling machines include the GKF 702 for small and medium-sized batches, and the GKF 2500 (shown) equipped with a micro dosing station. The GKF 702 offers the same flexibility and user-friendly operation as the GKF 701.

The new design has improved ergonomics and accessibility. Meeting the growing needs in today's pharmaceutical industry for flexibility, the unit can be used in the lab for extremely small batches. Parameters required in future production operations can be comprehensively simulated and defined.

The GKF 702 capsule filling machine is suitable for all standard filling techniques. Recently, the portfolio has been enhanced to include dosator technology. For laboratory applications, Bosch developed the so-called “mini-bowl” for small product batches ranging from 100 to 300 milliliters to ensure a higher powder yield. This provides a cost-effective filling solution that is ideal for expensive powders or limited availability during the development phase.

The pellet station enables gentle and precise filling of pellets and can be used in conjunction with other stations for combination products. The liquid station is suitable for thixotropic and hydrophilic liquids that can also be temperature controlled during the filling process. Powder filling is conducted with the filling/stamping station. The “slide-gate” system featured on the 1400/2500 series machines is now available for the GKF 702 filling station. This increases batch yield and enables filling of free-flowing granules and pellets. The slide-gate system also increases product flexibility since powder and pellets can be filled on the same station.

The GKF 702 is a “future-proof” machine in that compatibility with new filling stations is one of the key features of the machine design. For example, the GKF 2500 micro dosing unit is also available for the GKF 702.

Micro dosing of powders is used on the GKF 2500, giving customers the ability to handle micro dosing with maximum yield and precision, and minimum deviation from standards.
Micro dosing refers to filling quantities of less than 30 milligrams. Precise filling of minuscule doses without agglomeration is essential for highly active inhalation products that require exact dosages. This is why Bosch developed a dosing wheel designed for use with highly active inhalation products with quantities ranging from two to 30 milligrams. Micro dosing is suited for application on, for instance, the high-performance machine GKF 2500.

The modular, flexible filling station can also be used for hard-to-fill products. Adjustments can be made as necessary during the filling process without removing the filling roller. This saves time and reduces waste. Designed to meet future needs, the filling station can be easily assembled and disassembled. The small number of format parts makes machine changeover for a new product faster and easier. The GKF 2500 is suitable for flexible processing of a wider range of products with a higher yield.
