A recent CNN article discussed the latest COVID-19 vaccine scam. This time it’s in Mumbai, India and the scam is pretty wide-reaching. At least 12 fake vaccination drives were held near Mumbai’s financial district. Victims of the scam lined up to receive what they thought would be an approved vaccine for the coronavirus, but instead received shots of saline water. It’s estimated that around 2,500 people received fake shots, earning the scammers about $28,000 total. So far, 14 people have been arrested on suspicion of cheating, attempts at culpable homicide, and criminal conspiracy. THe doctors who administered the shots were using a hospital that produced the fake certificates, vials, and syringes.
