The 4000X Weigh Price Labeling System from Convergent Label Technology (Tampa, FL) uses a load cell upgraded with digital technology. The system weighs a package, prints a bar-code label, and applies it to the package at rates to 90 packs/min.

The load cell uses HBM’s (Marlborough, MA) Fast Intelligent Transducer (FIT) to increase the speed and accuracy of the system. PC-based software allows easy input of all weighing settings into an EEPROM, including load cell calibration. Remote diagnostics and setup are also supported. The load cell interfaces to the 4000X via serial port.

The 4000X handles rolls of p-s labels, typically 2’’ square each, in a print-and-apply setup using a print engine from Sato America (Sunnyvale, CA). It has a capacity of 12 lb (35 lb optional) to accept packages to 17’’ long. It is constructed of stainless steel for harsh wash-down conditions such as in poultry and other food-processing operations.
