Tom Wetsch, chief innovation officer, Pregis LLC has been invited to join the Michigan State University (MSU) School of Packaging Industry Advisory Board.

The board is comprised of individuals with experience in diverse packaging disciplines. The objective is to share knowledge with the university to help educators prepare students for their transition to the corporate world.

“When considering board members, we look for people that have a strong packaging background and will complement our existing advisors. Tom has significant experience in various packaging disciplines which makes him a great fit. We look forward to his contributions,” said Jay Slagle, MSU School of Packaging Industry Advisory Board chairperson.

As the chief innovation officer for Pregis, a leading provider of protective packaging solutions, Wetsch has been instrumental developing and commercializing technology which helps companies get their products to consumers damage free. These include on-demand packaging systems, films, polyethylene foam, air cushioning and mailers.

“Pregis is a strong believer in supporting collegiate packaging programs. We have an active university partnership program with internship opportunities that often turn into full time employment, post-graduation. We also donate products to help translate coursework into industry-relevant packaging training. By joining the advisory board, I will now be able to help shape what these students learn before they even become interns. This is a great way to help students become future packaging leaders,” said Wetsch.
