Romaco Kilian will shortly be embarking on a tour of Asia with its tablet presses: the Kilian KTP series will be one of the highlights with its convincing new design concept "cool, fast & clean". R&D applications and small scale production are the speciality of the STYL'ONE Evolution tableting robot.

Romaco Kilian KTP series: cool, fast & clean

Cool: the reliable cooling of the process area to below 30°C enables highly temperature sensitive medications such as Metformin or Ibuprofen to be processed safely. Special compression rollers, bolts and bearings reduce mechanical friction and hence bring down the temperature in the compaction area. The efficient cooling of the V-ring seals and drives likewise prevents the formation of heat.

Fast: this high speed press compresses up to 1,020,000 tablets an hour and was especially developed with quick product and format changes in mind. The die-table, tablet chute and fill shoe can be swung right out for significantly easier access to the various components. There are fewer product-contacted parts overall, so that cleaning is restricted to a minimum. The tool-less format changes also speed up retooling.

Clean: the optimised hygienic design ensures a strict separation between the compaction and service areas, thus preventing tablet dust from entering the machine compartment. The patented bellows protect the tablets from contamination with lubricants as they are pressed. This not only improves product quality but also makes the process more reliable.

Romaco Kilian's new generation of HMI panels featuring zoom and swipe navigation underlines yet again exactly how easy it is to operate the KTP presses.

Romaco Kilian STYL'ONE Evolution: maximum precision for R&D

Romaco Kilian's STYL'ONE Evolution tableting robot is available in three configurations for formulating mono-layer, multilayer or core tablets (tab in tab). This single-stroke press is predestined for a broad array of R&D applications as well as for producing very small batch sizes, for example for clinical batches. The press can also be supplied in a containment design for potent products. It is equipped with a special gravity or paddle force fill shoe and is capable of compressing up to five layers with three different components. The production process on any standard rotary press can be simulated precisely using ANALIS, the intelligent PAT software. The user selects the machine model for this purpose and defines the required tablet thickness and compression force. ANALIS then automatically determines the optimal product compression parameters. Only a tiny quantity of powder is needed to manufacture ultra-precise test batches with up to 1200 tablets per hour. Apart from developing new formulations, the STYL'ONE Evolution can also be utilised in a targeted way to make manufacturing processes more efficient or troubleshoot errors.

On show at Korea Pack in Seoul from April 26 to 29, 2016 (Stand 3F 101) and at Interphex in Tokyo (Japan) from June 29 to July 1, 2016.
